Update iPads to iOS 8 at Earliest Convenience
Dear LISD Parents,

Apple released iOS 8 for the iPad on Wednesday, Sept. 17. LISD’s Technology Department has tested the update and found no issues. They request that all students and staff upgrade their iPad to iOS 8.0.2 at their earliest convenience.
Forestwood Middle School Fire Alarm Notice - Oct. 3
Attention Forestwood Middle School Parents: Today, we safely evacuated our building due to a fire alarm. Flower Mound Fire Department determined the cause to be a fog machine, which was being used for one of our classes. Please know that the fire department cleared our building and students have safely returned to their normal class scheduled. Please know the safety and security of your children is our top priority. Thank you!

Parent Notice: Pearson Homework Helper Technical Issues - Oct. 1, 2014
Dear Lewisville ISD Parents:

As you may know, Lewisville ISD has experienced technical issues with the Pearson website our 6th, 7th and 8th graders use for math. We know some students are having difficulty with web pages loading slowly, as well as lost assignments during the upload process. Students who lost their assignments using the online homework feature may make up the lost work. Parents with questions about resubmitting lost work may visit with their student’s teacher. Flower Mound Rotary Fest, Neon Night 5K – Oct. 4
The Flower Mound Rotary and Lewisville ISD West Zone schools are proud to host the second annual Neon Night 5K and Festival at Heritage Park in Flower Mound on Oct. 4 from 4-9 p.m. The run will begin at 7 p.m. This fun community event offers free activities for children, live music, a washer tournament and a Neon Night 5K!
Lamar Middle School Middle School Parent University - Oct. 22
All middle school parents are invited to attend Lamar Middle School's "Middle School Parent University" on Wed., Oct. 22, 6-9 p.m. This free event, which will have free child care for children ages 5-12, offers several sessions in regard to digital citizenship, healthy teen relationships, anxiety, depression and much more!
iPad Notice: iOS 8 Upgrade
Apple is releasing iOS 8 for the iPad on Wednesday, Sept. 17. Please do not upgrade any Lewisville ISD-issued iPads until the Technology Department tests the new version and approves the upgrade. This should take place within 24-36 hours of the iOS 8 release. An updated notice will be sent following Technology's testing of iOS 8.

Lewisville ISD Building Neighborhood Connections; District Seeking Participants for INSIDE Program
Lewisville ISD (LISD) is seeking participants to be part of the INSIDE leadership program for the 2014-2015 school year. INSIDE, which stands for “Interested Neighbors Staying Informed of District Efforts,” was launched five years ago. To date, about 200 citizens have spent a year going behind the scenes through this unique program to learn how the district operates. This year, citizens will be able to get to know the district’s leadership team – a great way to learn more about their expertise, roles and responsibilities.
Lewisville ISD Welcomes Educational Consultant Katie Greer; Parents Invited to Participate in District “Parent University” Learning Activity
Sept. 2, Lewisville ISD (LISD) will welcome famed educational consultant Katie Greer to lead a “Parent University” (Parent U) learning opportunity for all LISD parents. Parents are invited to attend the session with Greer, who will help them navigate today’s technology-driven society with their children. The event will be held at Lewisville High School’s Leo C. Stuver Auditorium (1098 W. Main St., Lewisville) at 7 p.m.

Lewisville ISD Parents: Please read the attached 1:X parent letters (in both English and Spanish), which detail our 1:X initiative. One letter is for the parents of students who are new to receiving a district-issued iPad, and the other is for our students who are already a part of our 1:X program.
